Rapparees Power Past Limekiln in Historic Senior Championship Opener

Rapparees 20–12 Limekiln

Senior Championship Match Report

Galway City Rapparees got their Senior Championship campaign off to a winning start with a 20–12 win over Limekiln in Galway.

It was a steady enough start. Runs from Greg Mannion, Ili Tuimauga and Pakie Killilea helped Rapparees into a 3–0 lead after two innings, while Ryan Dennis kept things tight from the mound and the defence did their job.

The game turned in the third.

Rapparees put up 9 runs in one inning, with the whole order contributing. Rory McGarvey, Ajay Kumar and Jay Hall were all involved as the lead stretched out.

Limekiln came back into it with 4 runs in the third and 5 in the fourth, but Rapparees didn’t let it slip. They answered with 5 and 3 in the last two innings to keep control of the game.

Solid work across the field as well, with Alberto Scotti and Cathal Creaven strong through the middle, and Killilea and Kumar covering well in the outfield.

A good start at senior level, and one that was built on that third inning.
