Five Teams. Five Semi-Finals. One Incredible Club.

History has been made. For the first time in the club’s history, every Galway City Rapparees championship team has qualified for an All-Ireland semi-final. Five teams entered the championship. Five teams are still standing. It’s a remarkable milestone for one of Ireland’s youngest clubs and reflects years of hard work from players, coaches, volunteers and supporters. Even more fittingly, Galway City Rapparees will also host the 2026 GAA Rounders All-Ireland Intermediate Semi-Finals at St. Mary’s College on Saturday, 15th August.

Five from Five

The championship journey begins this Sunday, 9th August, in Edenderry, Co. Offaly. The Junior Men’s team open the weekend at 11:00am against Wexford champions Gusserane, chasing a place in the All-Ireland Final. Later that afternoon, the Junior Mixed team take on Inniskeen, looking to continue their impressive championship run. One week later, attention switches to Galway, where Rapparees host the Intermediate Semi-Finals. At 12:00pm, the Intermediate Women’s team face Inniskeen with a place in the All-Ireland Final at stake. Then at 4:00pm, the Intermediate Mixed side will play either Emo or Dublin Metropolitans, depending on the outcome of the final group fixtures. The final chapter comes on Sunday, 16th August, when the Senior Men’s team travel to Monaghan to face either Erne Eagles or Breaffy in the club’s first-ever Senior All-Ireland Semi-Final.

A Remarkable First Season in Senior

Perhaps the standout achievement of all is the Senior Men’s campaign. Having won the Intermediate All-Ireland title last season, promotion alone represented a huge step forward. Competing with the country’s strongest clubs would have been challenge enough. Instead, Galway City Rapparees have announced themselves on the national stage by reaching the All-Ireland Senior Semi-Final in their very first season at senior level—an extraordinary achievement and one that underlines how far the club has come in such a short space of time.

Hosting the Best in the Country

As if five semi-finalists wasn’t enough, Galway City Rapparees have also been entrusted with hosting the 2026 All-Ireland Intermediate Semi-Finals. St. Mary’s College will welcome some of the country’s best Intermediate teams, with two Rapparees sides competing on home soil in front of what promises to be a fantastic atmosphere. Hosting an event of this scale is another significant milestone for the club and recognition of the work carried out by volunteers behind the scenes throughout the year.

Five All-Ireland semi-finalists is about far more than winning matches. It is a reflection of a club that continues to grow every season, with players progressing through every grade and volunteers creating an environment where success is built from the ground up. Whether in Edenderry, Galway or Monaghan, every Rapparees team will carry the support of an entire club over the next two weekends. Five teams. Five semi-finals. One club. No matter what happens next, Galway City Rapparees have already written another memorable chapter in the club’s history. Now the focus is simple—turn five semi-finals into All-Ireland Finals.
